Abstract
In recent years, and especially since the emergence of blue GaN laser diodes used to pump praseodymium, a lot of works report on efficient lasers in the visible range by direct emission of materials doped with rare-earth ions.
Many transitions can be obtained in the visible range with Pr-doped fluoride crystals, for example, but also with other rare-earth ions (Dy, Tb, Eur, Sm). The seminar will review what has been achieved in the CIMAP laboratory on this subject in recent years, and the prospects opened up by these results.
