6th International Workshop on Photoluminescence in Rare Earths (PRE'16): Photonic Materials and Devices

June 8-10, 2016, Greenville, SC USA

PRE ’16 will be held at the Westin Poinsett; see: http://www.westinpoinsettgreenville.com/gallery. In addition to price, it was selected because it is has a European feel and is a smaller and more familiar venue. It is also centrally located on the main promenade in Greenville and so has easy access to all that Greenville offers: http://www.visitgreenvillesc.com/

Technical Topics

Though all topics relating to photoluminescence from rare-earths will be considered, the following topics are of particular interest:

§ Theory and Fundamentals:

- Fundamental photoluminescence properties & spectroscopic measurements

- Modeling, first-principles calculations, etc.

§ Rare Earth Doped or Rare Earth Based Materials:

- Single Crystals

- Glasses, Amorphous Materials and Glass Ceramics

- Transparent Ceramics

- Nanoparticles and Nanocomposites

- Scintillators

- Phosphors

§ Rare Earth Based Photonic Devices:

- Optical Amplifiers for Telecommunication

- Fiber Lasers and Micro-Chip Lasers

- Phosphors: for X-rays, UV, Solid-State Lighting, Displays, and Imaging

- Wavelength Converters for Efficient Photovoltaic Systems

- Rare Earth-Doped Photonic Crystals and Microstructured Fibers

Proceedings

We are pleased that PRE’16 will continue its productive association with Optical Materials. As with past PRE conferences, oral and poster presenters can submit their work for consideration in a special issue highlighting the work of PRE’16.
