Curriculum of Chiappini Andrea

CHIAPPINI Andrea the 19th February 2002 received the master in Physics from the University of Trento with a final score of 110/110 cum laude. The thesis was developed at CSELT of Torino.

The 22nd October 2003 received the degree in Physics from the University of Trento with a final score of 110/110 cum laude. In December 2006 he obtained the PhD degree discussing the thesis "Realization and characterization of confined structures: control of optical and spectroscopic properties".

From 2nd August 2007 he is the Principal Investigator on the research area “Sol-gel Photonics” at CNR Institute of Photonic and Nanotechnologies UOS Trento.

His research activity regards the realization and characterization of confined structures, in particular:

  • Realization and structural, optical and spectroscopic characterisation of 3D photonic crystals, obtained from colloidal suspensions of dielectric nanoparticles.

  • Synthesis and characterization of metallic nanoparticles (spherical and star shaped); core-shell structures activated with rare earth ions for application in the sensor field and for the realization of laser sources with low threshold.

  • Fabrication and assessment of the optical and spectroscopic properties of dielectric waveguides obtained by sol-gel route.

He is Referee of several ISI journals and member of the Editorial Board of Nanomaterials.

Considering outreach initiatives and products, he was involved in several European projects where he is active as a trainer for teachers of the Photonics Explorer kit, workshops in collaboration with Fablabs and in the organization of exhibits.

Il 6 dicembre 2006 discute la tesi di Dottore di Ricerca intitolata: "Realization and characterization of confined structures: control of optical and spectroscopic properties".

    • Guide d'onda planari dielettriche ottenute tramite tecnica sol-gel.
